That's why the Duffers called each season "Stranger Things 2/Stranger Things 3" and so forth (instead of "Stranger Things: Season 2"), because they wanted them to be like movie sequels, so that it tells the audience that while it does continue the storyline of the previous season, the season is supposed to also stand on it's own and have a tone I know I am too late to the party but there's so many things I wanted to say after completing season 1. It's like a combination of feeling gratitude toward my childhood friends, nostalgia for how simple life used to be, the sadness of losing a friend, the tingle that accompanies newfound love, and also curiosity and fear of the unknown. But the mood shifts when Dustin's radio picks up a Russian broadcast, and Will senses something is wrong. I feel like the writers got caught by how popular it was. IMHO, the S1 "Steve Harrington Reboot" was one of the key incidents that made the show work. It’s the worst season but it would be fucking ridiculous to skip it then watch season 4 wtf.
